WHAT IS MAJESTIC?
In 1946 Project: Majestic
12 brought together some of the greatest science fiction writers of the
period to create counter intelligence stories for the United States government.
Sidney Newman and his fellow writers created cover stories and hoaxes that the
military and the intelligence community used to combat and misinform enemy
nations. Sidney, who was unable to serve in WWII for health reasons, was proud
to use his talents to help fight the Soviets.
Then something happened. On July 2, 1947 something landed in the
desert near Corona, New Mexico. Initial reports claimed it was a flying saucer
but the official Government story that emerged was that it was a weather
experiment that had gone wrong. Suspicious reports of alien bodies, flying
saucer technology and a secret government facility called Area 51 were
whispered amongst conspiracy theorists and eventually began to filter into the
subconscious of America.
But Sidney Newman created those whispers. Sidney wrote the
Roswell conspiracy in late 1946 for the Military. Why was his work being used
against Americans as a second layer cover story? Sidney wanted answers. If it
wasn’t a weather balloon and it wasn’t a flying saucer, Sidney wanted to know
what really happened in the New Mexico desert.
Majestic is a twelve part webseries that follows Sidney in his dangerous
twenty-two year quest to uncover the truth about the Roswell Incident. Created
by Eric Peter Schwartz (producer of the Big City online series), Majestic will debut in 2005.
