JACK started in 1994 as a 6 piece group called Rain Session. The group included Dan Neid on bass and vocals, Eric Schwartz on guitar and vocals, Mike Vertenten on guitar and vocals, Linne Coursey on piano, Deric Perry (recently of Gertrude and Lesley Byers and The Jazz Cats) on Drums and Anne Malatesta on lead vocals. The latter three had all left by June 1994 and Dan, Mike and Eric went on to look for a drummer. After a month and one disasterous audition, Eric borrowed his neighbor's kit and took over drums. JACK was born.

Over the next two years the group jammed, wrote, practiced and honed their brand of lyrical, guitar-trio Jam rock . Only one gig was played, a party at Eric's. The group dissolved in 1996. While they never played out, they left behind countless hours of basement tapes.
