Jan 1 : CD - It's A Sick World, Betty Released Even more than the writing or recording of this album, I remember driving back from ATV Labs in Cicero with the box of 100 'Betty' CDs. It was SO cool. Nobody had CD burners then, so to have a real album of ours on CD was awesome. Unfortunately, I didnšt have a CD player in my car, so I had to wait until I got back to work to plug one into my Mac and give it a spin. It sounded SWEET. There are things that still bother me about this CD; most notably the background vocals on 'Neckbrace Girl' and the false note at the beginning of 'Spiggitz.' I'm also not entirely happy with the lack of guitar power and low end on 'Gut-Thumping' (and I should have used Stevešs real trombone). But it was so cool to be able to pass these discs out to the group at rehearsal. And every once in awhile when I pop it in to listen to in the car, it really holds up well. Our new stuff is a lot more slickly produced, but 'Betty' really has a nice acoustic pop to it.
